About the Foothills Trail
Located in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, the Foothills Trail is roughly 76.2 miles long. With a diverse landscape, ranging from rocky peaks with beautiful views to quiet, lush forests, and stream and waterfall crossings, The Foothills Trail is a breathtaking natural wonder. Wildlife sightings can be common, and hikers will love the challenge of this beautiful trail.
About the Trailblaze Challenge
Designed as an endurance program, the Trailblaze Challenge gives participants the choice of 28.3 or 16.4 mile distances to tackle the terrain of the Foothills Trail, all in one amazing day! This is a hike, not a race, and caters to all levels from novice to advanced outdoor enthusiasts.
Trailblaze Challenge is a symbolic experience. From taking on the noble challenge of making wishes come true while undertaking a demanding 28.3 mile hike the Trailblaze Challenge echoes the wish experience of SC wish kids with life-threatening medical conditions beginning with excitement, to defying the odds through a sixteen-week training period and raising awareness and funds to the culmination, hike day. In the end, a hiker's feelings of excitement, of finally obtaining something they've dreamed about, and then, the momentary escape from the tired feelings earned during their journey are all a direct reflection of the joy they have provided to wish kids.
By supporting the Trailblaze Challenge, participants help Make-A-Wish South Carolina grant more wishes than ever statewide this year.
