Make-A-Wish has played an important part of my life since I was seven-years-old. My younger sister was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2000 and seven months later I was diagnosed with same cancer. A year after my sister's diagnosis, Make-A-Wish granted her wish to visit Minnie Mouse in Disney World and in September of 2001, my wish was granted to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway in New York City. These two wish trips gifted my family the time we needed to reconnect with each other outside of hospital walls and will forever be memories we cherish and look back on.
Last March, after watching the 60 Minutes episode featuring Kaden Erickson's Make-A-Wish experience, something in my soul was awakened and I felt deeply moved to create a Make-A-Wish fundraiser of my own. After a few days of contemplating this idea, I decided to act on it and I set a goal to raise $220 in honor of my 22nd birthday. After just a short 25 days, the fundraiser beat my initial goal by $1,600 and I donated $1,800 to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin on my 22nd birthday. Because of the overwhelming success and support of last year’s fundraiser, I have decided to make this an annual event and my goal this year is to raise $3,000 to become an official sponsor of Henry's wish!
This year 100 percent of my fundraiser will directly help send Henry to Disney World! Henry is a four-year-old living with a neurological issue. Henry's wish is extra special because his wish will take him to Disney World and Give Kids the World, the same place Sarah, my younger sister, had her Make-A-Wish trip in 2001 and where my family continues to volunteer.
On April 23 from 1-4 PM Sneakers Bar & Grill in Janesville, WI will be hosting a meat raffle and silent auction. 100 percent of the proceeds made from the raffle and auction will be donated directly to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin to send Henry on his special Make-A-Wish trip.
Any donation amount, big or small will be graciously accepted and greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate to the silent auction, please email email@example.com or have any questions about Henry or my family's experience with Make-A-Wish, please email me!
