While her classmates enjoyed field trips and science experiments, Alexa was confined to a hospital room as she completed the first grade. Following a medulloblastoma diagnosis, Alexa spent extensive time in the hospital as teams of medical professionals worked to cure her aggressive brain tumor. It was during these long days in the hospital Alexa found herself watching countless travel shows, and it was then she was first introduced to the beautiful Disney Aulani® Resort in Hawaii. Alexa could hardly believe how amazing the resort appeared, and she used the thought of Aulani to bring her hope and strength during prolonged treatments and hard days. As Alexa approached the second grade, she found herself in remission from medulloblastoma and able to attend school again. Not long after, Alexa met with volunteers from Make-A-Wish, and she proudly told them all about Disney Aulani and how she couldn’t wait to visit. This past fall, Alexa, and her family were on their way to Disney Aulani where they experienced endless joy and made life-long memories.
The funds raised through the efforts of Nevada Subcontractors Association will directly benefit wishes like Alexa's. With the help of the community, we are one step closer to granting every eligible child's wish.
