I was always a sick kid. Whether it was sinus infections, pneumonia or other respiratory illnesses, something was always wrong. When I was fourteen I was diagnosed with Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID). Someone with CVID doesn't have a normal immune system as you can probably guess. Important cells and antibodies that fight infection, in the body, are missing. These cells and antibodies keep a person healthy and allow them to fight off illnesses like a common cold. For someone with CVID, a common cold isn't as easy to get over and could lead to pneumonia, bronchitis and other related illnesses. Growing up around hospitals and doctors, I understand the importance of normalcy and hope. I appreciate the power of a wish.
I was a former wish kid and it's a privilege to be able to help Make-A-Wish Oklahoma on their 35th anniversary with the 35 for 35 fundraiser. If Make-A-Wish Oklahoma raises $175,000, every dollar will be matched by a grant, giving MAW Oklahoma a total of $350,000. Please help me in raising $3,500. Your donation is going to give an Oklahoma child a sense of hope and normalcy in their lives. It's also going to give their families a sense of hope. When a wish is granted, that child and their families get to forget about challenges they are facing and look forward to the future. It allows families to be families.
If just seventy people I know donated $50, we could reach $3,500 easily. Thirty five people who have been affected by MAW, myself included, along with other grants are going to get us to $175k. I want you to be a part of it. Thank you.
