Dear Friends,Family and Colleagues,
Last year, our Sales Engineering group teamed up and raised more than $15,000 to support children battling the strain of a critical illness. Our efforts made it possible to grant once-in-a-lifetime wishes for children, like Michael.
Michael is a high school wrestling star, but his wrestling career was cut short because he was up against a much more personal battle. He was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16, which forced him to reevaluate his life plans. It’s a fight many teenagers are not prepared for, but he’s had to learn to act brave since a young age, after his 8-year-old sister lost her battle to a congenital heart condition. As a result of his challenges, he switched his focus from wrestling and is now pursuing a nursing career because he is appreciative of the comfort his nurses always provided through both of these life-changing events.
Michael’s wish to see his favorite wrestlers compete on the world’s stage in Rio was the respite he desperately needed. The trip not only provided priceless memories, but also allowed him to take his power back when all else seemed spiraling out of control.
It’s irrefutable that wishes are healing for children, like Michael. Make-A-Wish transforms the lives of children, one wish at a time. Wishes are awe-inspiring, motivating, and give children the strength to fight their illnesses. I believe that a Make-A-Wish experience can change everything for a child with a life-threatening medical condition.
This summer, Make-A-Wish of Western NY has 24 children who are dealing with the reality of a critical illness and are waiting for their wishes to be granted. The Paychex Sales Engineering team is, once again, hosting and participating in a 5K Run on May 4th to raise funds for Make-A-Wish. Help provide hope, strength and joy to wish families by contributing any amount you can – an amount per kilometer, $20, $50, $100 or even more.
How else can you help? More than 80% of wishes involve air travel and you can put those unused miles to work for a child right away. To donate your miles, go to: www.metrony.wish.org/Paychex
Together, we can bring hope and healing to wish children and their families.
