Dear Northwell Family,
As you may know, Northwell Health has joined forces with Make-A-Wish Metro New York to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich human experience with hope, strength and joy. All of us at Northwell strive to improve the health of the communities we serve. What better way to do this than to brighten the lives of critically ill children and their families.
According to a 2011 Wish Impact Study, 89 percent of health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the physical health of a wish child. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family.
Eight-year-old Kemeisha lives with sickle cell disease and often experiences painful health challenges. But according to her mom, the wish strengthened Kemeisha’s spirit and renewed her hope. “The experience set the standard for everything – for what she can do and should do. It taught her to never give up and to never give in!”
Let’s all come together and continue to provide courageous kids like Kemeisha with an opportunity to imagine life beyond illness. Whether the wish is for a puppy, a shopping spree, a trip to a Hawaii or be a ballerina for a day, that experience has a profound, long-lasting and far-reaching effect on a child, their family and the whole community.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
