  • On Thanksgiving, we give thanks.

  • On #GivingTuesday, we give back.

  • To celebrate #GivingTuesday this year, Make-A-Wish supporters are raising funds to help make wishes come true in communities across the state. Each of the 5 Illinois regions is working tirelessly to raise $10,000, with the goal of raising $50,000 statewide by midnight on November 29th, 2016.

  • Wishes don't come true because of one person. It takes every dollar, every person, every community to change the life of a sick child. Please join the HEROES in Region One (Chicago/Greater Chicagoland) and help local children fighting tough battles experience the magic of a wish.

"Make-A-Wish granted my sister a wish. I saw the joy and excitement it brought her and had the honor to accompany her on her wish. I saw first hand how people came together to make her smile. I thought to myself 'I want to do that too!' I hope my everyone donates to this amazing organization because every family deserves to smile, no matter how difficult things get."

- Karina Gallegos (Sycamore)

"I recently joined the amazing team at Make-A-Wish Illinois, and have been so inspired by my colleagues since day one! The team here is incredibly dedicated, and truly cares about each and every child we help. I am excited to share our work with my friends and family, and help give back to an organization that already means the world to me."

- Debbie Mayeroff (Oak Park)

"I'm involved with Make-A-Wish because as a volunteer I really feel like I am making a difference with every wish family I meet. As a wish granter, I have the opportunity to make sure my kiddo's wish is exactly what they envisioned. Participating in fundraisers like #GivingTuesday is equally as rewarding because you see the outpouring of support from friends, family and even strangers who want to help Make-A-Wish!"

- Carly Wolfe (Chicago)

"I hope that my friends, family, and community will support Make-A-Wish for #GivingTuesday because their money will go so much farther than that one wish. My wish was in 2002 and I STILL talk about it. Make-A-Wish does really, really important work in a field that I was part of as a patient and am now still a part of as a nurse, and I think helping them out is an awesome thing to do."

- Ellen Gordon (Chicago). Ellen had her own wish granted in 2002 to host Good Morning America!

"I am involved with Make-A-Wish to give back to the organization which gave me an unforgettable experience after going through a terrible time in my life. By donating to Make-A-Wish, you can give a child their dream come true as they are experiencing one of their toughest times."

- Katie Cholewa (La Grange). Katie had her own wish granted in 2009 to go on a Mediterranean Cruise!

"I became a wish granter with Make-A-Wish because my hope is that I can put a smile on a child's face and bring them happiness while they are going through a difficult time in their life. It has been such a rewarding experience in my life to spend time with these children. I hope my family and friends will support Make-A-Wish on #GivingTuesday because this organization goes above and beyond to make children's wishes come true. Every dollar helps!"

- Ashley Hanson (Winfield)

"I support Make-A-Wish because I have witnessed firsthand the power of a wish through my sister's experience as a wish recipient. Choosing to donate on #GivingTuesday will not only contribute to a child's wish, but also to their treatment efforts. A recent survey conducted by Make-A-Wish America confirmed that wishes are an important part of the treatment process. A wish come true helps a child feel stronger, more energetic and more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions."

- Erin McKeighan Orr (Naperville)

"I support Make-A-Wish in honor of our beautiful great-niece, Kylie, who has battled cancer twice and beat it with courage and grace and now is living the healthy and happy life she is destined to live. Kylie is a Make-A-Wish recipient."

- Donna Wienhoff (St. Charles)

"As a wish granter and mentor, I have had the pleasure of experiencing the magic of granting wishes and the pure joy that the children and families exude both during the process and post-wish. My role within the organization is inspired by my cousin, Dominic, whose wish was granted before he became an angel in 2011.  We all know someone who has been impacted by a life threatening illness, so my desire is that my family and friends will support Make-A-Wish on #GivingTuesday to provide hope for others!"

- Caitlin Hillsman (Chicago)

"I have been a wish granter for more than 5 years now, and I am constantly reminded of how strong these children, and their families are...so much to deal with and yet so full of joy and hope. I'm so proud to play even such a small part in their lives by helping to create a wish for them that brings them some hope, some smiles, some happiness and mostly, a little break from the stress of dealing with their situations. Never fails to bring me a smile, and so happy to stay in touch with some many of our wish families, long after their wish, and learn of the great things that these kids are doing and achieving!"

-Nancy Powell (Oak Park)
