When and where is the walk?
The walk is on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak Mich.
What time does the walk start and end?
Registration begins at 7 a.m. The walk begins at 9 a.m. Activities and lunch ends at 12 p.m.
When does registration close?
Registration closed Wednesday, May 2, at 11:59pm. Registration will be available on the day of the event – beginning at 7 a.m. – and there will be a $25 per person registration fee.
Who needs to register?
All participants, 3 years and older, must be registered to participate. This includes, spouses, children, friends, etc. A zoo ticket is required for admission – which are purchased by us prior to the event.
How can I get pledge envelopes?
Pledge envelopes are available by request by emailing email@example.com.
What happens in case of inclement weather?
The walk will take place rain or shine. We ask all of our walkers to be prepared for Michigan weather! In case of severe weather, a Make-A-Wish Michigan representative will be on site to collect donation envelopes and pass out incentive items.
Can I stay at the zoo after the walk?
Yes, the walk takes place inside the Detroit Zoo. Your registration and participation grants you access to enjoy the zoo until 5 p.m.
Do I have to pay the zoo to park?
No, there is no parking or admission fee if you are a registered participant in the walk.
Where do I park for the walk?
In the event that you arrive at the Detroit Zoo to find parking full, please proceed to the Oakland Community College South Parking Structure & Lot: 739 S. Washington Avenue, Royal Oak, MI 48067. A shuttle will be provided to and from this parking structure about one mile from the Zoo. The parking structure and surface lot will be available for arrival until 12:30 p.m. and departure until 5:30 p.m.
What is the distance of the walk?
The walk is a 1.5 mile stroll through the scenic Detroit Zoo.
Will there be food & beverages available?
Yes, all registered walkers will be offered a light breakfast & light lunch provided by our sponsors. The Detroit Zoo also has a variety of stands with food & beverages available for purchase during its normal business hours. You are permitted to bring in snacks and non-alocholic beverages.
Is there a registration fee?
There is NO registration fee prior to Wed, May 3rd. After that date, registration will be available on the day of the event – beginning at 7 a.m. – and there will be a $25 per person registration fee. All participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100.
Will I still get a shirt if I didn’t add a shirt size?
Walk shirts are available to walkers who raise $100 or more as an incentive item. We do our best to ensure that every participant who has raised $100 or more will receive a shirt, but sizes are on a first-come, first-served basis.
All kids 13 years and younger will receive a FREE walk t-shirt.
Where do I register?
You can register online at www.walkforwishesmi.org, we are no longer accepting mail in registration forms.
Do I have to register each family member that I plan to bring with me?
Yes. There is a Register Family Member option for registration. If you want to register your family, go to the website www.walkforwishesmi.org and register yourself. You will still have the ability to create or join a team using this option. At the last page, the site will give you the option to register a family member.
If I register my family, are my kids expected to raise $100?
We hope that all adults in the family can raise that amount of money. But let your children give it their best shot, every dollar counts!
I am a wish family; do I still have to register?
Yes, you do! We are so happy you have come to help raise funds for Make-A-Wish Michigan and help us grant more wishes!
Can I bring a friend?
Of course! They will need to register and are encouraged to raise $100 as well.
Do I have to raise $100?
It is highly encouraged that every participant raises at least $100. We have provided many ideas on getting your fundraising campaign started on the walk website under the information tab – Fundraising Tips & Tools.
I can’t be there for the event but can I still raise money?
Of course! All you have to do is register as a virtual walker online at the Walk For Wishes website.
Where can I get paper stars, wristbands, banners, balloons, brochures/flyers?
These items are available to Walk participants to assist with fundraising efforts. Please contact Jenn at firstname.lastname@example.org or 810-522-6532 to request items.
How do I use my online fundraising page?
The online fundraising page has a lot of tools for you to use to make your fundraising campaign a success. These tools are located under the information tab – Fundraising Tips & Tools – on the Walk For Wishes website.
I don’t know anyone who will donate?
You will never know this until you ask! Use the online tools to ask for donations via email or social media. You can even ask face-to-face, every dollar counts!
I raised money offline, how do I get that to you?
Perfect, you can mail your donations to our office utilizing the offline donation form, or you can bring the money on the day of the event. To request a pledge envelope for any cash and/or check donations, please email Jenn at email@example.com.

Is my information secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. There is an encryption engine on our database server so that your data is securely stored.
How is credit card information handled?
Credit card information is not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send donor credit card information to an online processing terminal using a secure connection. The information passed back is an approval or denial of the credit card donation.
How do I register for the Walk For Wishes event online?
Click on the register button and complete the form. You will be guided through the registration process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email receipt.
I forgot my Username and Password. How can I find out what they are?
Remember that your username and password are case sensitive. Click here to find your password. You will receive separate emails with your username and password.
How can I see who has donated to me?
Go to the Login section on the site. Enter the Username and Password that you used when you registered for the event. In your Participant Center, click on "View Progress". You will see Donor Name and dollar amounts in the Donation History section.
How can I view my team's activity?
Log in to the site using your username and password, and then click on the ‘My Team’ tab. This will allow you to view your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.
What do I do with check or cash donations that I receive?
Turn your check or cash donations in the Make-A-Wish Michigan office in Brighton. They will add it into the system and count it towards your fundraising goal. Make sure to print out the mail-in donation form and include it with your cash or check donations.
All of my donors are not showing up on the scroll mechanism. Why?
As your supporters donate to you or your team, they have the option to make their name visible or anonymous in the scroll. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
