Celebrate local heroes at Walk For Wishes®
Calling all heroes big and small! Join us for the 7th annual Walk For Wishes on Saturday, April 26, 2014, in Salem, Oregon. This family-friendly 5K walk begins and ends at the outdoor amphitheater in Riverfront Park.

This year we are honoring our Wish Heroes (local Wish Kids). Come dressed as your favorite superhero, princess or wizard and celebrate our local heroes. Ragen, 13, from Salem, had her wish granted to meet the cast of her favorite television show last spring. Now she is one of our Wish Heroes who is fundraising to make more local wishes come true. So far Ragen has raised $1,300!

Emily’s birthday shopping spree
Emily, like most girls, loves to shop. For her wish-come-true, she chose to have a shopping spree and learned what it truly means to “shop ‘till you drop!” She shared that there was only one rule that day: "to have fun!". On the morning of Emily’s wish, she was picked up in a limo and chauffeured to Clackamas Town Center where she was treated like a star, complete with a red-carpet welcome, makeover and shopping frenzy at Macy’s.

What makes Emily’s wish even more special is that it was granted on her 13th birthday. With her magical morning underway, she went store to store visiting all her favorite spots to shop, including the Sanrio store, Claire’s, GameStop, Build-A-Bear, Target, and last but not least, Fred Meyer Jewelers where she was treated to a Hello Kitty birthday celebration as part of a partnership with Jewelers for Children. After Make-A-Wish posted about her birthday wish on Facebook, nearly 2,000 people sent her birthday messages and words of encouragement. Thank you so much to everyone who made Emily's birthday shopping spree wish so memorable.
