The Jebner’s Wish Golf Tournament and Dinner was started as a way to fulfill the dream of our friend, Jeremy Ebner.
Jeremy was a native Oregonian and a proud University of Oregon alumnus. He was an avid traveler and sports fan, and he made an impact on everyone he met through his sincere passion for life and unique observations about the world. Sadly, on June 2, 2013, Jeremy (or Jebner, his college nickname) passed away after fighting leukemia for a year and a half.
During Jebner's time at OHSU, he talked a lot about what he was going to do once he was done with treatment and feeling better. Of all his ideas, he seemed most passionate about one in particular. He knew how difficult it was to fight leukemia and could not imagine a child having to go through what he was experiencing. Combining his desires to help these children and his love of golf, Jeremy decided he wanted to create a golf fundraiser that benefitted the Make-a-Wish® Foundation. Unfortunately, he was not able to make his dream come true before losing his battle.
After Jeremy’s passing, those close to him came together and organized the first annual Jebner’s Wish Golf Tournament in October 2013, raising $15,000. Since 2013 we've hosted ten additional golf tournaments as well as other fundraising events. Through our efforts we've raised $350,000, granting the wishes of 48 local children in partnership with Make-A-Wish® Oregon.
This year, we are taking a break from putting on our large scale event, but you can still support with a donation here. Additionally, Jebner's legacy is going to live on through the new, first-ever Make-A-Wish Oregon "Golf for Wishes" Golf Tournament. You can learn more at www.oregon.wish.org/golf
Thank you for your support of local wish kids in honor of Jebner!
